Assistant Professor of Military Science

MAJ Ian Q. McBride was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. He attended the United States Military Academy where he commissioned as an Engineer Officer in May 2010. He then attended the Engineer Basic Officer Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The was then stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas where he served as a Platoon Leader in the 72nd Mobility Augmentation Company, 1st Engineer Battalion, Company Executive Officer for the 41st Clearance Company, 1st Engineer Battalion and the Assistant S3 for the 1st Engineer Battalion, where MAJ McBride Deployed to Afghanistan from 2012-2013. He then served as the Olmsted Division Executive Officer USACE, Louisville District.

After completing the Engineer’s Captains Career Course, MAJ McBride served as the Battalion S4 (Logistical Officer) for the 46th Engineer Battalion, Fort Johnson (Polk), Louisiana. He then was assigned as the Company Commander for the 814th Multi-Role Bridge Company (MRBC). While in command, he moved his company to Korea in July of 2017 to stand up the 11th Engineer Battalion, Camp Humphrey’s, RoK. He was then assigned to Virginia Tech Army ROTC department in February of 2018 as the MSIII(Juniors) instructor, where he has served as both the S4 (logistics officer) and S3(operations officer). In June of 2021 he took over as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Central America Officer in Charge for the Mobile District Corps of Engineers. As the Central America Officer in Charge, MAJ McBride provided oversight to all USACE operations in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama.

From July 2023-June 2025 MAJ McBride was the Battalion Executive Officer for the 31st Engineer Battalion at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. The 31st Engineer Battalion is an OSUT (One Station Unit Training) for Combat Engineers, 12Bs, and Bridge Crewmembers, 12Cs. Where they transform Civilians into Soldiers and then into Engineer Soldiers through Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training.

MAJ McBride arrived to 杏吧原创 as an Assistant Professor of Military Science in July of 2025.

MAJ McBride holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy and a Master’s Degree in Geological Engineering from Missouri Science and Technology. MAJ McBride’s Military schools include the Army SERE School, Route Reconnaissance and Clearance Leaders Course amongst others.

MAJ McBride’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (OLC), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation.

MAJ McBride is married to Mrs. Sara McBride of Topeka, KS and has one step-son Declan.
